What is Motability?

Motability is a not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1978. The purpose of Motability was to provide disabled people with secure, reliable and affordable vehicles and today the scheme is a fantastic way for disabled people to have a new car from any number of manufacturers, including Audi, Ford, Skoda and Volkswagen. To be eligible for the scheme you should be Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance, or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement.

The Motability scheme allows you to turn part, or all of your allowance into the new car of your choice. Many of the cars from the Mon Motors Group dealerships come with a nil advance payment. This means that you have no additional money to pay before taking ownership of your new car. Other vehicles require an initial contribution from you, called an advance payment. If you receive the allowance, but do not drive then you can still join the Motability scheme by choosing the contract hire option. Nominate up to two drivers who may be friends or relatives to drive the car on your behalf. Parents or carers can also apply to join the scheme on behalf of a child aged three years and upwards.
