Selection Criteria

Every apprentice is encouraged to demonstrate initiative, the ambition to succeed and a willingness to strive to be the best in everything they do. The Volkswagen Group Advanced Apprenticeship Programme has been designed to equip you with all the relevant skills and expertise needed to become fully qualified in your chosen career.

In order to join Mon Motor Group and be considered for the Volkswagen Group Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Programme, you will need to:

  • Be aged 16 or over.
  • Have GCSE's in Maths, English and an IT subject at, ideally, grade C or above, or a Scottish certificate of education standard grade 3 or above.
  • Have a desire and a commitment to work hard.
  • Have a real passion for cars.
  • Be able to respond to colleagues and work as part of a team.
  • Aspire to a long-term secure career with Volkswagen.

Available Roles

Apprentice Service Technician

As a Service Technician you will be involved in all aspects of maintenance and repair from routine servicing to the complete component overhaul of vehicle systems. Electronic fault diagnosis using the latest diagnostic equipment now forms part of the everyday routine.

Technicians are also vital to customer care. The service provided by the workshop is a major factor considered by customers when they decide to replace their car.

You are required to have a keen interest in the motor vehicle industry, be passionate about the Brand and be fully committed to completing the course and becoming a highly skilled, highly motivated Technician.

Qualifications to Achieve

  • NVQ level 2 progressing to NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance and Repair of Light Vehicles.
  • Key and Core Skills Certificates.
  • IMI technical Certificate.
  • Audi Service Technician Status.
  • Advanced Apprenticeship Completion Certificate.

Duration - 3 Years

Apprentice Parts Advisor

Parts personnel are essential team members within the Centre. You will play a vital role as a member of the parts department in selling parts and accessories, as well as providing assistance to both the service and Vehicle Sales Department in helping them to work effectively.

As an apprentice Parts Advisor you will be required to combine your passion for the Brand, IT skills, outgoing personality, technical knowledge, and ability to deal with people in order to provide parts support for the motor industry.

Qualifications to Achieve

  • NVQ Level 2 progressing to NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Parts Operations
  • Level 2 Key and Core Skills Certificate
  • Level 2 IMI Technical Certificate and IMI Level 3 Diploma
  • Certified/Accredited Parts Advisor Status
  • Advanced Apprenticeship Completion Certificate

Duration - 2 Year

Apprentice Service Advisor

As a Service Advisor you will be first person customers will meet when booking in their vehicles or picking them up. Being able to communicate with them in a knowledgeable and professional manner is vital to deliver a premium customer service.

Service Advisor's need to have an understanding of the vehicle and customer needs, interpreting customer instructions and relaying this information to the service department.

You are required to have a keen interest in the motor vehicle industry, be passionate about the Brandi and be fully committed to completing the course and becoming a highly skilled, highly motivated Service Advisor.

Qualifications to Achieve

  • Nationally recognised qualification (VCQ/SVQ)
  • Functional skills qualification
  • Fully accredited Service Advisor

Duration - 2 Years (Level 3)

Apprentice Paint and Body Technician

A vehicle body technician undertakes repairs that are needed on the vehicle body when it has been in an accident or has not been maintained properly. This is a skilled job which specialises in repairing or replacing damaged panels. Duties may include:

  • Assessing the level of damage and making the decision to repair or replace panels
  • Repairing chassis and panels┬á
  • Removing damaged panels

Paint technicians are responsible for preparing vehicles to be painted after the damage has occurred or panels have been replaced, this can include repairing minor scratches to match the rest of the vehicle. You will learn how to recognise the various materials used on vehicles and the prep that is needed to be done before applying the paints and finishes. It is a skilled job that includes duties such as:

  • Ensuring all parts are stripped from the vehicle in order for it to be painted
  • Sanding down relevant areas and adjoining areas for blending
  • Masking our areas that need to be treated
  • Etching and priming the area to be treated
  • Selecting, mixing and matching colours

Some technicians will complete the process from start to finish and others will have specialised roles and work on one part during the repair process.
