Practicality has also taken a significant step forward. The ID. Polo offers a 441-litre boot, around 24% larger than the current petrol-powered Polo. Inside, Volkswagen has clearly listened to customer feedback, resulting in a more intuitive and user-friendly cabin design.
Physical buttons have made a welcome return, replacing the touchscreen slider controls previously used for functions such as volume and temperature. A new rotary dial further enhances usability, offering a simpler way to access key settings.
At the same time, Volkswagen has retained a strong link to its heritage. The digital cockpit includes a retro-style display mode inspired by the iconic Mk1 Golf, providing a subtle but meaningful nod to the brand’s past.

3. It can charge up to 80% in 23 minutes
When it comes to charging, the Volkswagen ID. Polo is designed with convenience in mind. Models equipped with the larger 52kWh battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in as little as 23 minutes when using a compatible rapid charger, helping to keep journeys moving with minimal interruption.
Beyond efficiency, there’s also plenty to excite drivers who enjoy performance. The upcoming ID. Polo GTI is set to become the most powerful production Polo ever, delivering 226 PS alongside an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock for improved handling.
Built on Volkswagen’s latest MEB+ platform, the ID. Polo, and ID. Polo GTI also benefits from enhanced one-pedal driving. Strong regenerative braking allows drivers to accelerate and slow down using a single pedal in many situations, creating a smoother, quieter, and more efficient driving experience overall.
